The Berlin Music Award 2013: outstanding talent
With the Berlin Music Award Berliner Pilsner is honouring the best up-and-coming musicians in Berlin for the second year as part of the Berlin Music Week. Kerstin Wegner, Brand Manager of Berliner Pilsner, shared her enthusiasm with us: “We are extremely excited to see who will be awarded our golden Berliner Pilsner bottle. Last year’s winner, the Basement Funk Orchestra, will open the finale with their cool funk music. Rapper MC Fitti will be lending his support to the event by appearing as a special guest.” In addition to the official Berlin Music Award trophy, the favourite picked by the jury and public will take home a fantastic prize of 5,000 euros.
From the 300 applications submitted through berlinmusic.tv, the following nine artists are still in the running for the Berlin Music Award 2013: Charity Children, Fannie L., Filmriss, Kreissäge, Melloy, Otto Normal, The Folks, Vember, YeoMen
However, only three of these talented solo artists and bands will be performing at the grand finale in the Postbahnhof on 4 September 2013. The deciding criteria will be the live performance qualities demonstrated by the finalists to the jury during a 15-minute performance in the Butcherroom, the free rehearsal space of Berliner Pilsner and berlinmusic.tv.
The professionals that make up the jury of the Berlin Music Awards 2013 are highly competent and extremely passionate about music. Lutz Fahrenkrog-Petersen, Professor of Popular Music at the Humboldt Universität, music producer, singer/songwriter and composer, the editorial team of berlinmusic.tv, representatives of the Berlin Music Week and representatives of Berliner Pilsner will select the deserving winner. The live grand finale will take place in the Postbahnhof on 4 September, the opening evening of the Berlin Music Week.
If you already have a ticket for the Berlin Music Week or the showcase festival First We Take Berlin or purchase a ticket, you can also enjoy free admission to the grand finale of the Berlin Music Award 2013. For all other music fans, individual tickets are available for ten euros at the Postbahnhof box office on the evening of 4 September.
