Many teenagers use different channels and media than adults to listen to music and participate in pop culture. How do music and media user statistics actually look like when you single out the 11 – 19 year olds? And what specifics do music and video producers take into consideration when creating for a very young target group? What kind of media do they use, how do they address young people, what are their channels of interaction with fans? What do they know about listening preferences, mainstream and subcultures, tastes and attitudes of young people today? What kind of problems can arise and how to deal with them? This panel discusses experiences of working with teenage audiences – from the perspectives of political education, video shows, and music – and with the outcomes of a recent study on music user behaviour among teenagers.
