Presented by IMPALA – The independent music companies association

One year on, is the new world any braver? Has the digital market delivered on its promise to level the playing field, empower cultural and creative SMEs and provide access to culture in all its diversity while adequately remunerating creators and their commercial partners? One year after speakers first exchanged views on the panel 'This new world ain't brave at all' at the 2013 VUT Indie Days, this panel will take stock of where the online market for culture stands in Europe and where the opportunities and the challenges lie for cultural and creative actors. This topic is very timely as the control of internet giants on the cultural and creative markets becomes ever tighter.

How can a real level playing field be achieved? Have online giants become so powerful that they are out of regulators' reach? Is the new world looking bright or rather gloomy? These and other questions will be tackled by panelists with a view to giving the audience a flavour of what the future holds for artists and the cultural and creative sectors in general.
